Advertising & privacy

TalkTerminal uses PicPlayer’s shared ad manager for its sponsored sidebar. This page describes the integration’s technical behavior; it is not a replacement for the operator’s full privacy policy or consent platform.

What the integration sends

Ad requests identify the application as “talkterminal” and identify the placement. They can include consent flags, approved network IDs, consent strings and failed-network exclusions. Rendering, viewability and supported click events use an ad decision token. Requests omit browser credentials and page referrers. As with an ordinary network connection, the receiving service can see connection information such as the IP address, browser headers and application origin.

The integration does not include your account ID, email address, workspace name, messages, file contents, document titles, or searches in advertising request payloads. The client does not create a persistent advertising identifier.

Contextual by default

Only contextual inventory is eligible by default. Third-party networks need permission from a connected consent-management platform for the specific network. Global Privacy Control and a browser Do Not Track value of “1” prevent the SDK from using consented inventory. Advertising code runs in a sandboxed frame on a separate creative origin, not directly in the workspace.

Your choices

Open “Ad choices” in the sidebar or profile menu to use contextual ads only or hide the sidebar. The hide/show preference is stored in this browser under “talkterminal:ads:hidden”; it is not an advertising identifier. A connected consent platform may replace that panel with its own preferences interface. The sidebar is also hidden on viewports narrower than 1280 pixels.

Service availability

When the manager cannot be reached or an ad cannot fill, the sidebar uses a local fallback. Turning advertising off in the deployment removes the sidebar and prevents the ad SDK from loading. TalkTerminal does not periodically refresh successfully filled ads to chase a different network.

Advertising preferences

The sponsored sidebar uses PicPlayer’s shared ad manager. The integration does not include your messages, files, document titles, workspace name, or account identity in ad requests.

Contextual ads are the default. Third-party networks remain unavailable unless a connected consent platform confirms permission for those networks. This panel is not a consent-management platform.

You can keep contextual ads or hide the sidebar in this browser.
